Disagreeing with “Fake it til you make it”.

I constantly hear the phrase and have never agreed with it and never will.

I completely disagree with the notion that you sell someone on an ability or skill set that you do not have, simply because you want to do it and need a use case.

What was wrong with scenarios and case studies like we used at school or at uni? Practise before hand! Do some research and be at least somewhat prepared. We all have to start somewhere and someone has to be our first customer/client.

Nothing needs to be faked in this life, you just need to practice it - live what you want to do, practice it and then find an audience or customer for it.

Before you fake it, try doing something for free to gain experience? Learn to set yourself tasks and follow through on the deadlines you give yourself? To become an expert, we need to complete thousands of hours on something - once you know what that is for you, stop faking it and simply start getting experienced in it.
