Self-development never stops
Nature’s number one rule is best summed up as ‘Stillness is death’.
Unlike our wild animal brothers and sisters, we aren’t born with inherited knowledge, instinct and defence mechanisms. I know this is common knowledge, but it is worth reminding ourselves that we learn the art of living through trial and error, through persistence and thinking. We aren’t perfect, and maybe we never will be - but we can ALWAYS be improving.
Like a snake sheds it’s skin with each cycle of growth, humans can shed their old ideas, identities, beliefs and perspectives. It is necessary to keep what strengthens you and let go of what doesn’t - we can only do this through methodical reflection and considerate action. Every chapter of life builds upon the last - it isn’t it’s own short story.
No one can give you the answers as to how you can best achieve your development as a human, but there are patterns and underlying principles that you can identify in people. Take inspiration from others - identify what you do and don’t like in them and direct your choices accordingly. Question how you found them or heard of theme and whether or not they inspire the best parts of you.
Just remember that the day we decide to settle, we better be on track to delivering our life’s mission with our 100% best effort.
