Mantra #1
I think we all have a mantra in life, whether we are aware of it or not. It sits there, working away at our sub conscience. For me, I have a couple. I don’t know why they grasped my attention so deeply, but they did, where I picked some of them up from, I don’t know.
The main one for me, as far back as I can remember first figuring out I had one, has always been ‘Act as if it’s yours and one day it will be.’
Firstly, it is not necessarily a belief that what you interact with will be yours, but it is holding the respect and integrity that you imagine the owner or leader (Of the company, building, school etc.) to hold and know. This has always given me an opportunity to ‘level up’, mentally and physically. It helps me to not only empathise with my bosses and always increase my attention to detail with the customers I interact with - if they were mine, how I would I want to have them be treated or know me and my business for? It has always allowed me to ask myself how I would act based on the standards I would hold of my own staff and employees?
This mindset isn’t just limited to people, but maintenance of equipment, use of time etc. Beyond work, I even apply these mantra to my life’s dreams and goals. From houses to cars - it has helped me to continuously live with less urgency and, instead, use what I have to the best of my abilities so I am a better owner and caretaker of whatever comes next.
One day I do hope to own my own company, but, until then I will be practising what it takes to do this well, whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Never forget, we can’t rise to our potential until we help others to reach theirs.
