Give back - you and the world need it.
Along the lines we have gotten soft, I am the first to admit that I have grown up soft myself. I have not had to endure what my grandparents did, let alone my ancestors.
As humans, we have the luxury of thinking about the future, not just the present. Because of this, many of us live outside of our means - knowing that there is always tomorrow, a whole bunch of cold food in our fridges and a roof over our heads that will likely still be up after a storm.
One thing’s for certain - we don’t need everything that we think we do to live a good life. Less is more and, desiring less can often result in a lot of inner peace.
As we get older, we hopefully see more and more that it is not what we can give people from a material standpoint that matters most, but that time and energy are the only truly valuable resources that make a difference.
We don’t need to get to some arbitrary level of wealth or status in life before we can give back - things as small as a conversation, sharing some food and paying attention may just be enough to make the world a better place if we practice them on the daily. Protect what needs protecting, support what needs assistance and challenge what needs growth.
